The Good
The 2005 Dakota offers a good balance of performance and practicality. Its available V8 provides ample power for towing and hauling, appealing to those needing a capable truck. While not the most fuel-efficient, it offers decent value for its size and features. Comfortable ride quality and a relatively spacious cabin make it appealing for daily use.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses include lower fuel economy, especially with the V8 engine. Some owners have reported issues with the front suspension and electrical components. Rust can be a concern, particularly in areas with harsh winters. The interior plastics can also feel cheap and prone to wear over time.

Would buy again if I could.I have a 2005 dakota that I purchased new. I love it. 18 years of owning it. I have had very few issues. I use for hauling and recently I have been using it for highway driving. It just works. It's nothing fancy in fact it's kind of utilitarian. But I does everything I need it to do. I do maintain it well. but I have only had minor issues. The fuel mileage is not great but it's a truck.

Great truck just feed it wellI've had my 05 dakota 3.7 quad cab for about a year and I have put 16000 miles on it without a problem I have found that it likes the finer fuel in life and premium gas ain't cheap!

Front brakes have locked twice in the last five yrFront brakes locked up 3 times. $500 each time. The last time I just had 5800 miles on them. The truck has 79000 miles on it now.

Extremely reliable truck that I ownIts a great truck, good sound system, simple interior design, a lot of room. Great for commuting or for hauling items, the only issue that I can think of is that its a bit short.

Awesome truckI first owned a 98 Dakota and fell in love with it when it was time for a new vehicle i chose a newer Dakota because your getting a lot of truck for the money. Theres space for your family amd friends to sit comfortable and plenty of space and power to haul large items and tow small to medium trailers. Interior is straight forward with a nice sounding radio all displays nice and clear. The only thong i wiah was dofferent about MY particular truck is I wish it was a v8 with a stick. However with that being said this lottle v6 gets the job. I do everything i ised to do with my old truck in this newer one and this one does come with a v8 6 speed option which ill be sure to 'pick up' in the future so yeah i recommend it.

Awesome, mid-size truck!Bought with low miles, have owned it for many years without any problems. Used it for camping & kayaking for fun adventures. Great for carrying furniture, gardening products and home maintenance materials. Four wheel drive reliability in bad weather and snowy conditions. Club cab provides extra space. Solid performer!

rear doors stucked, won't open. It's very reliable, but the rear doors stucked, can't open!! Which has caused a problem when we has to put something or someone in the rear. Is there anyway it can be a recall to get them fixed? Never had this happen!!
