The 2015 Honda Accord represents the ninth generation of this popular mid-size sedan. Known for its reliability and practicality, the Accord is available as a sedan or coupe. Key trims include the LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring. The original MSRP ranged from approximately $22,000 to $34,000. The Accord stands out for its balanced combination of fuel efficiency, spacious interior, and reputation for dependability making it a consistently top-selling car.
The Good

The 2015 Honda Accord offers numerous advantages. Practically, it excels in reliability, fuel efficiency, and overall value. Emotionally, the Accord provides a comfortable ride, a surprisingly sporty driving experience (especially in the Sport trim), and a stylish design that appeals to a broad audience, providing peace of mind and a sense of satisfaction.

The Bad

Weaknesses of the 2015 Honda Accord include potential issues with the continuously variable transmission (CVT) in some models. Also, the infotainment system, particularly in lower trims, can feel dated compared to rivals. Some owners have reported issues with excessive oil consumption, requiring careful monitoring. What Problems Does the 2015 Honda Accord Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2015 Honda Accord include issues related to the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), particularly in models equipped with the 2.4L engine. Some owners have experienced shuddering, hesitation, or even complete transmission failure at relatively low mileage. Excessive oil consumption has also been reported in some 2.4L engines, where the engine burns oil at a higher-than-normal rate, potentially leading to engine damage if not monitored closely.
There have been recalls related to the 2015 Accord, including issues with the fuel pump relay, which could cause the engine to stall, and potential problems with the side curtain airbags. Owners should check the NHTSA website or contact Honda to verify if their vehicle is affected by any open recalls.
Long-term reliability concerns primarily revolve around the CVT transmission and potential for oil consumption. Regular maintenance, including timely fluid changes and monitoring oil levels, is crucial for mitigating these risks. Ignoring these issues can lead to costly repairs down the line. Some owners have reported issues with the infotainment system freezing or malfunctioning, although this is less prevalent than the transmission and oil consumption concerns.

How long will the 2015 Honda Accord last?

A well-maintained 2015 Honda Accord can easily reach 200,000 miles or more, providing over 10 years of service. Owner data suggests that regular oil changes, timely transmission fluid replacements (especially for CVT models), and proactive maintenance are key to longevity. Long-term durability is generally good, but weaknesses include potential CVT issues, oil consumption in some engines, and the gradual aging of electronic components like the infotainment system. Rust can also be a concern in regions with harsh winters, so rustproofing is advisable. Overall, with proper care, the Accord can be a dependable long-term vehicle.

My 2015 Accord EX sedan, now over 9 years old, is the best car I've ever owned. I've driven it all over America, it has 152,000 miles on it. The interior and exterior both still look new, there are no rattles, and it drives great. As much as I like the looks of the new Accord, I'm keeping this one. The style still looks current, and I spend little on it aside from regular maintenance. The best of 8 Accords I've owned!

2015 Honda Accord Prices and Market Value

The 2015 Honda Accord had a starting MSRP of around $22,000 to $34,000 when new, depending on the trim and options. As of today, used market prices typically range from $12,000 to $20,000, influenced by mileage, condition, and trim level. The Accord holds its value relatively well due to its reputation for reliability. Factors affecting resale value include vehicle history (accidents, maintenance records), mileage, and the overall condition of the car. Lower mileage, clean title, and a well-maintained vehicle will command higher prices. Depreciation is moderate compared to some competitors due to Honda's strong brand reputation.

2015 Honda Accord Cost of Ownership

The 2015 Honda Accord is generally economical to own. Insurance costs are typically moderate. Fuel costs are reasonable, particularly with the 2.4L engine. Maintenance costs are relatively low due to Honda's reliability and readily available parts. However, potential CVT issues and oil consumption can lead to higher repair costs if not addressed promptly. Long-term ownership costs are generally favorable, making the Accord a financially sound choice, provided it is well-maintained and any potential issues are addressed proactively.

Insurance for a 2015 Honda Accord is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sedan with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2015 Honda Accord Compare to Other Sedan?

The 2015 Honda Accord competes with rivals like the Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion, Mazda 6, and Nissan Altima. In terms of reliability, the Accord and Camry are often neck-and-neck, both boasting strong reputations. The Accord offers a slightly sportier driving experience than the Camry, while the Mazda 6 provides even more engaging handling. The Ford Fusion stands out with its stylish design and available hybrid powertrain, while the Nissan Altima offers a comfortable ride.
In terms of features, the Accord's infotainment system is less advanced than some competitors, especially in lower trims. However, the Accord's overall value proposition is strong, balancing performance, features, and price effectively. If reliability is paramount, the Toyota Camry is a similar alternative. For a sportier driving experience, the Mazda 6 is a good choice. The Ford Fusion offers a more stylish option with available hybrid models. The Hyundai Sonata often offers comparable features at a slightly lower price point. Overall, the Accord remains a top contender, but buyers should consider their priorities when comparing it to its rivals.

Final Verdict: Is the 2015 Honda Accord a Good Sedan?

The 2015 Honda Accord is ideal for buyers seeking a reliable, practical, and efficient mid-size car. It's worth buying, especially as a used vehicle, due to its strong reputation and typically reasonable prices. The EX and EX-L trims offer a good balance of features and value. However, potential buyers should carefully inspect any used Accord for signs of CVT issues or excessive oil consumption. Obtaining a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic is highly recommended. If prioritizing long-term reliability, verifying the maintenance history and choosing a model with documented CVT servicing is crucial. Consider higher trims for enhanced features and safety technology, but even the base LX offers a solid foundation of essential features.

I purchased the vehicle with 16K on it.

I purchased the vehicle with 16K on it. It now has 100K on it. I wanted enough driving an maintenance data for a review. Vehicle is the E-XL V6 model. Vehicle was serviced by the dealership until they were no longer able to fix issues with the vehicle, so I assumed control of the maintenance. Car was fine until 50K when I needed to repair the AC as dealer was unable. Next transmission (6 speed auto) was shifting funny (68K). Dealer was overfilling transmission by 1 quart and not replacing filter as recommended by Honda driving the requirement to perform my own service. Motor mounts failed at 78K and required replacement. Vehicle is currently on its 3th starter (yes, TSB has been performed). I believe this to be a known issue with these vehicles. Oil changes performed every 3K (not 5K) and plugs at 65K (not 100K) as they were no longer serviceable, creating a rough idle condition, Regular engine decarbonization IS required. Please consider this maintenance cost. Failure to do so creates poor fuel economy and performance. the 100k Service was performed including timing belt, tensioner, pullies, coolant flush, water pump , oil pump and pan sealing as well as crank and cam seals (about $2K at a shop).TCO is way below average when compared to other brands of vehicles. It is NOT like the Honda's in previous years. The Honda Navi never worked correctly, but you see that in many brands in this age of vehicle. The seats are adequate, but not comfortable for longer journeys. I have been religious in my maintenance regimen and am not including many of the smaller items and repairs that wear as with any other vehicle. I do have doubts that this vehicle will go 200K like so many of its predecessors without pulling the engine and transmission out for major repair (Ex. Torque Converter replacement). The 4 cylinder variant of this year is probably the better way to go for this year and a manual would be even better if one was made in this model year. I do not believe that 4 cylinder owners to not experience the same issues as 6 cylinder owners in the way of TCO from my research. .As with other brands, the active cylinder management (cylinder cut out for fuel economy) is something that may require maintenance at some point. I have recently installed a module to defeat the AFM from activating in an effort to save the engine from clogging the intake , valves, pistons and low tension rings with carbon as this is the demise of many of these engines. Aesthetically, its a nice looking car, It drives well and has plenty of power and when running properly and handles and stops well for a vehicle of this weight. Assembly fit and finish are very good as well. As with any vehicle I evaluate them on TCO (total cost of ownership). As these vehicles are now almost 10 years old, I've described my experiences so that other like minded people can evaluate my experience along with others who may not have had the same or similar issues that I have had over the time I've owned the vehicle.

Over the last 8 years my 2015 Honda Accord has been with me through it all. It is up to 175k miles and has never once given me any kind of mechanical issue. It runs as well today as the day I bought it. 10/10 score for reliability. The interior is very spacious and comfortable. People are always so surprised by how roomy it is in the back seat. The trunk is also very spacious and can fit more than you'd expect to fit in a sedan. I think the dash design looks very sleek and modern, even by today's standards. The back up camera is clear and works wonderfully. Although it is missing some of the features that come with newer models, I find the screen controls and media settings to be easy to use and pleasing to the eye. I would say this car is the best I have ever owned and it has made me a Honda customer for life. At this rate, I won't be replacing it anytime soon. But when I do, I will be heading straight to the Honda dealership.

Top tier daily, few compare

(For EX-L Couple V6 6MT) Great daily. TLDR, very little other cars give you this much fun without sacrificing functionality, reliability, mileage, or comfort. Doesn't get terrible mileage as long as you don't drive it like a maniac. Put's mustangs and some chargers/challengers to shame. Has a lot of grip, but steering is numb and very light. Has a bit of rev hang. Leather seats are very comfortable, but the suspension is a bit bumpy at times (its not a german luxury car so its not a big deal). Shifter feels a wee bit numb, but cause it has rubber bushings. Manual transmission has very aggressive gearing, 1st doesn't need any throttle at all to get going and can at time start in 2nd, 80mph @ 3000rpm in 6th. E-Brake handle feels super cheap, but it is a honda so o big deal. Doors are nice and long, giving great visibility. Back end looks super sexy. V6 sounds like pure sex, especially at 4900rpm and up (VTEC range), redlines about 7000rpm, has lots of torque so you can pass in 6th on the highway very easily. MPG is listed at 18/28 but you can realistically get a bit more than 30 on the highway if you use cruise control or don't drive too fast (65-75). Back seats fit up to 3 average sized adults for trips not too long, great rearseat room for a coupe. Auto-dimming rearview mirror is a blessing, and blindspot camera (if yours has it) is very useful. Trunk is pretty spacious, with back seats down it can easily fit skis or snowboards and other long but not too wide cargo cause it has a chokepoint between the trunk and the seats which limits width. Handling is great, but you don't get any feedback from the steering wheel and steering is super light (electric pwsteering). Body doesn't roll too much in corners. in my opinion, VERY UNDERBRAKED. Brakes are not nearly big enough for the power this car has. Good for normal use but driving at a track or in Mexico at 100mph+ the brakes fade extremely quickly and lose stopping power, then begin to warp a bit (goes a way after a while but sucks in the moment) I had a couple "Oh xxxx" moments underestimating the brakes due to them being hot. User beware. Get some LED headlights if it doesn't come with any, the halogen bulbs are pretty weak. FCW (front collision warning) is very annoying and too sensitive at the lowest setting so turn that off. ECO mode is absolutely a must, it does NOT limit power it just makes the already sensitive throttle more linear and natural feeling, saving vital MPG during normal driving. Pedals are kind of small so harder to heel-toe in normal or more narrow shoes. You will have to replace tires often cause burnouts are so easy and fun even possible up to 3rd (joking obviously). IF skeptical, BUY ONE! just make sure it was taken care of, but you will have tons of fun while still being able to daily it every day for a trillion miles cause the Honda J35 runs for centuries (the ones without cylinder deactivation). DONT LET FWD DEALBREAK YOU! it still drives and handles amazingly. Conclusion: amazing daily for enthusiasts looking for a good combo of fun, comfort, reliability.
