Analysis
What Problems Does the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Have?
Rust can be a significant issue, especially in areas with road salt. Water leaks, often stemming from the sunroof or faulty seals, can damage the interior. Recalls for the 2006 model year included issues with the fuel tank and airbags. Long-term reliability concerns revolve around the lifespan of the transmission and the potential for costly repairs related to the electrical system. Owners have reported issues with the climate control system, including malfunctioning blend doors. The Quadra-Trac and Quadra-Drive systems require regular maintenance, and failures can be expensive to repair. It is crucial to thoroughly inspect any used 2006 Grand Cherokee for these potential problems before purchase.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features were limited compared to modern vehicles but included available features like cruise control and rear parking sensors. Safety features included standard front airbags, side curtain airbags (optional), anti-lock brakes (ABS), and electronic stability control (ESP). The Grand Cherokee also featured a tire pressure monitoring system.
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) generally showed good performance in frontal and side-impact tests, although specific ratings varied depending on the test criteria. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) also conducted crash tests, providing further insights into the vehicle's safety performance. Overall, the 2006 Grand Cherokee provided a decent level of safety and technology for its era, though it lacks many of the advanced features found in newer vehicles. The navigation system, when equipped, was a rudimentary version compared to modern systems.

How Does the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Compare to Other Wagon?
In terms of price, the Grand Cherokee was generally competitive when new. However, its higher long-term maintenance costs make it less appealing compared to more reliable alternatives like the 4Runner in the used market.
Similar alternatives include the Toyota 4Runner (for reliability) and the Ford Explorer (for a more comfortable on-road experience). If reliability is a major concern, the 4Runner is a better choice. If you prioritize on-road comfort and space, the Explorer might be a better fit. The Grand Cherokee offers a unique blend of off-road capability and on-road comfort, but its reliability issues need to be carefully considered.

Final Verdict: Is the 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee a Good Wagon?

2006 Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7LAs I read, don't buy unless you can work on it. Plenty of things broke, but the parts are cheap if you can work on it. All four interior door handles broken, but all four replacements were $40, I put them in. Starter motor bad, $160 and very difficult to install, but did it. Exhaust manifold to engine gasket bad. $20 and very difficult to install. Rubber gators over CV joints, cheap, but very hard to install. Advice: watch Youtube video's, take your time, and don't get aggravated, I told you its difficult...Plus all the plastic fasteners and parts are dry and brittle after 17 years.

Jeep grand Cherokee 2006No bulbs for heater control knobs LED have to change whole heater control system to get new lights that they shortly went out why not just put bulbs in there. But no they Saturday and LED bulbs . Problem with seatbelts Frayed through like they were cut. After a while you'll have to push the red button on the seatbelt connector to get it to seat. Passenger side keeps dinging if somebody says they're with a seatbelt on? Spare tire under Jeep you have to take the spare tire down if you want to spray and clean up there and if you don't it will rust I used to get under the car wash and it still wouldn't get up on top of the spare tire. water pump failed at 140,000 miles. Control arms were out another front linkage. Flush lug nuts if they break in Half the cost about $150 to get them chiseled out take them off and put regular Chrome Lugnuts on them .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2006 Grand Cherokee Limited. A great car. Perfect.Great car. If only everything on my life would be as reliable and durable as my Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited automobile. Gas milage is just OK, but everything else is phenomenal! It is blazingly fast! Use the cruise control and comply with the law. Keep up proper maintenance. Research the past history of the car before purchasing. I bought mine at Feslers Dealer in Fairfield Iowa and they were totally honest and reliable. I even received a phone call 1 and a half years later asking how the car is doing! Who else would do that. 5.0 perfect rating.

2006 JEEP GRAN CHEROKEEGot this suv. As my other suv got written off. Was looking an looking and didn't see anything was needed. Then found this. And started having problems/troubles right away. First little things sun roof drains get clogged. Then over heating. Then electrical badly. Tire sensors the worst anytime rain or snow melt. It act up. Now there's noises vibrating and it's a constant they can't seem find why. Engine light doesn't happen. It's a piece of gunk. 100% DONT RECOMMENDED IT AT ALL. Safe your money.

It's basically junk.I didn't get as lucky with mine as others have, after dumping over 2000 into it in a matter of 6 months I still get front end noise and clunking after new struts, the back end still sags after new rear shocks, the brakes are trash again after 4 months, the ball joints are already on there way out, it has still bump steer, it shifts over bumps, the front diff hums loudly at 40-65, it's awful on gas (it's also a suv but still 15mpg? My Silverado got better and that was a v8) and now it needs tie rods and possibly upper and lower control armsΓΒ’Γ’βΒ¬ΓΒ¦. This will be my last WK. just a money pit, a endless one at that.

It's a JeepI like the car a lot, it had 97,000 miles when I purchased it, so I am crossing my fingers that I will not have any issues soon. But it is super comfortable and I love the Hemi.

Great ride, high maintenance, electrical issues.Totally worth every penny. When I turn the radio on my heat turns off. I have had 19 codes for 3 years. Still runs. I'm replacing the whole front end 2nd time 2 years. It's got 240,000 miles. Wouldn't get it you don't know how to work on your own stuff.
