The Good
The 2021 Nissan Maxima offers a potent V6 engine, providing engaging performance that appeals to driving enthusiasts. It also boasts a comfortable and spacious interior with upscale materials. While not the most fuel-efficient, its reliability is generally good. It presents a good value for those seeking a sporty and comfortable full-size sedan.
The Bad
The 2021 Maxima's weaknesses include its CVT transmission, which some find less engaging than a traditional automatic. All-wheel drive is not available. The rear seat headroom can be limited for taller passengers. Finally, fuel economy isn't class-leading. Be mindful of CVT maintenance and potential long-term reliability concerns.

What Problems Does the 2021 Nissan Maxima Have?
Recalls for the 2021 Maxima have been issued for issues like backup camera malfunction or fuel system problems, so checking the NHTSA website for the most up-to-date recall information is crucial before purchasing a used model. Long-term reliability largely depends on adherence to the recommended maintenance schedule, particularly concerning CVT fluid changes. Neglecting these can shorten the transmission's lifespan.
Beyond the CVT, some owners have reported minor electrical glitches or issues with the infotainment system, but these are not widespread. Overall, the Maxima is generally considered reliable, but diligent maintenance, especially regarding the CVT, is critical for long-term dependability. Potential buyers should thoroughly inspect any used Maxima and review its maintenance history.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Standard driver-assistance features include Nissan Safety Shield 360, which encompasses automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and high beam assist. Optional or trim-specific features include adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and a surround-view monitor.
Safety is a strong point, as the 2021 Maxima typically earns high crash-test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). Check the official NHTSA and IIHS websites for the most accurate and up-to-date crash-test results specific to the 2021 model year. Overall, the Maxima offers a comprehensive suite of technology, entertainment, driver-assistance, and safety features, making it a well-equipped and secure sedan.

How Does the 2021 Nissan Maxima Compare to Other Sedan?
Reliability is where the Maxima faces a challenge. The Toyota Avalon generally boasts superior reliability. The Avalon also offers a hybrid powertrain for better fuel economy, which the Maxima lacks. While the Chrysler 300 is stylish, its reliability record is not as strong as the Avalon's.
Price-wise, the Maxima is competitive. However, if reliability is a top priority, the Toyota Avalon is a strong alternative. If you desire rear-wheel drive and available V8 power, the Chrysler 300 is worth considering. The Buick LaCrosse, while discontinued after 2019, can offer good value on the used market. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual priorities.

Nice to DriveI own a 2021 Maxima. It is fun to drive with good power. I like the firm ride which is a definite positive. I dislike soft suspension and the Maxima is good and firm. Drives well on the highway. The seats are very comfortable. The trunk has good room.

Nissan MAXIMA is one of the coolest cars of 2021!I had owned a MAXIMA in the 80's and when I saw the 2021 model I knew I had to have it! It is so fun to drive and the numerous safety features help keep me focused. Nissan definitely covered all their bases with this one.

First Nissan that I boughtThis car meets all of our needs as it was purchased for my wife as a Birthday Gift. The car has plenty of leg room for the Front Passenger (Me), but not so much for the Driver, and makes the Driver feel closed in as the design of the console hits the Drivers Knee. However, this car has an Exceptional ride, and very comfortable on the road. With that said, the seats are comfortable, and is loaded with lots of technology (too much tech for older citizens). It is well constructed, and is quiet, and smooth seamless shifts.

Great carThe only negative is the backseat leg room is small. The car is sporty and fun to drive. The infotainment options are excellent. The speed is a plus!
