The Good
The 2008 Porsche Cayenne boasts impressive performance with powerful engine options and sporty handling, appealing to driving enthusiasts. Its luxurious interior and comfortable ride cater to comfort-seeking buyers. While not the most fuel-efficient, it offers a premium experience and can be a good value on the used market for those seeking a prestigious SUV. The design is distinctly Porsche, turning heads and eliciting pride of ownership.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses of the 2008 Porsche Cayenne include higher maintenance costs compared to non-luxury SUVs. Watch out for potential air suspension issues, coolant pipe failures, and transfer case problems, especially on higher mileage examples. Fuel economy is not a strong point. Some models may have electrical gremlins. A thorough pre-purchase inspection is essential.

What Problems Does the 2008 Porsche Cayenne Have?
Electrical issues, though less frequent, can occur. Recalls have been issued for various issues, including fuel pump relays and headlight problems; checking the vehicle's VIN for outstanding recalls is crucial. Long-term reliability hinges heavily on maintenance; neglected Cayennes can become very costly to repair. The 2008 model year doesn't have drastically different issues compared to other years in the first generation, but preventative maintenance is key to avoiding major problems. Owners should prioritize addressing any warning signs promptly to prevent further damage.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features included front and side airbags, as well as curtain airbags for front and rear occupants. Optional features included parking sensors and adaptive headlights. Crash test ratings from agencies like the NHTSA and IIHS varied, but generally, the Cayenne performed well in crash tests for its class. Keep in mind that safety technology has advanced significantly since 2008, and newer vehicles offer more comprehensive driver-assistance systems. It's crucial to consider that while it was safe for its time, current safety standards are more rigorous. The infotainment system, while functional, is dated compared to modern systems.

How Does the 2008 Porsche Cayenne Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
Price-wise, the Cayenne was generally more expensive when new. Used, the price difference narrows, but maintenance costs remain a factor. For better reliability and lower running costs, the Acura MDX is a solid alternative. If performance is the primary concern, a BMW X5 with a sport package provides a similar driving experience with potentially lower repair bills. The Lexus RX is another reliable alternative prioritizing comfort and luxury. The Cayenne excels in blending performance and SUV practicality but demands careful consideration due to its potential maintenance costs.

Much better than the 1st GenerationI had an '04, with a lot of problems over the years. Finally sold it and after much research bought the 08 -- huge improvements in every aspect, while maintaining the classic look and utility. A true SUV, and also a true Porsche.

Elegance with powerClean and fully serviced with all paperwork, this beautiful and powerful luxury SUV has it all from the twin-turbo V-8 now with 500 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque to the luxurious leather and suede interior with all the electronic features from navigation, parking sensors, heated seats and multi CD 10 speaker stereo system. In sport mode the G force is exciting and with all terrain 4 wheel drive and height adjustment from loading to all terrain distance from the ground is not a problem.
