The first-gen RAV4 is such an amazing car all-around.The first-gen RAV4 is such an amazing car all-around. I've got a 2000, white, cosmetically modified. It's very sluggish, but it's not meant to be quick. If you want a quick first-gen, swap a 3S-GTE in, easy. The 3S-FE that came with these things was bulletproof. Only had to change the water pump and a few metal & rubber odds and ends so far due to my specific car sitting and aging from the previous owners. AMAZING car.

Best car ever made!Bought this 2000 Rav4 in Dec 1999. Still runs great with 136k miles. Changed timing belt at 90k. Thats the only major thing we've done. It should last another 20 years, but not sure we will.

First SUV I've ownedThe vehicle is what I needed I have a motorhome and I pull it when I go on trips. I'm not a small guy big enough for me to get in and out of and just the right height for my mother to have no problems getting in and out of.

Still love it!Still love it after 19 years very reliable hardly ever needed anything except maintenance sporty roomy Zoomy can fit my road bike in it in the back without having to do anything special I can pack a whole camping experience in the back. I've been running it finally having some mechanical issues wanting to just get it fixed and keep it it's worth every penny ever spent on it so far.

19 years old and still runs greatI bought this car brand new after test driving her on every snow packed, ice packed parking lot I could find. She even handled snowy hills with ease! If she has trouble on the snow packed roads, it is too dangerous to be out. Sorry, boss, if my little Rav 4 can’t make it on the roads, I’m staying home! Just had some necessary maintenance work done and two of the mechanics offered to buy her right on the spot! Even though she is 19 years old, she still gets complements on great she looks. I LOVE driving her! Oh, besides looking cute, she STILL handles snowy roads with ease

You can't drive a car unless you drive a RAV4..The car meets all my needs I bought it used and in 4 months I have put on over a thousand miles just driving in the city of Cleveland and Akron Ohio.

My 2000 Rav4What can I say about my burgundy/grey Rav4 that hasn't already been said before? Yes, they are extremely reliable and practical but it's not all puppy dogs, lollipops and rainbows for me. You see I am 6'4 and even though I technically fit in this vehicle it is not the most comfortable especially for long trips. I also have to slouch to not look out through the sun visor. When you have a couple of suitcases along with some extra gear in the back the 120 HP 4 cyl motor really struggles. I wish she had at least 30 more HP which would also help when passing traffic or going up BIG hills. Surprisingly the gas mileage isn't that great either. It costs me $50 to fill the tank and I only get about 400 km on that tank. As for styling I like it especially during the summer months since I pretend it's a dune buggy when I drive her to the beach. And...in winter she is a beast and has yet to get stuck. I love the full time 4WD. But..that fulltime 4WD is why I am filling up more often. (heavy transfer case) So there you have it. Like most vehicles you take the good with the bad but overall I would recommend an older Rav4 like mine which was built in Japan and just seems to go on.....forever!

Love this car!I really love this little SUV...it's just perfect for my lifestyle. My 6 foot tall husband fits into it just fine, although I wouldn't recommend this vehicle for a large person. I'm 5'2" and it seems like it was made just for me. It's got plenty of space for whatever garage sale finds I might gather up on the weekends, and for going back and forth to work during the week, it does great. The interior design isn't spectacular -cup holders are too small, and the console is just so-so. But mine has a sunroof, which makes up for a lot! I drove a diesel 2015 Rav 4 all around Iceland for an entire month, and I would recommend Rav 4's in general for handling and reliability.
