Pricing ranged from around $14,000 to $21,000 when new. The Civic's popularity stems from its reputation for reliability, fuel efficiency, and a spacious interior, making it a practical and dependable choice for many drivers. Its futuristic design was also a major selling point.

What Problems Does the 2007 Honda Civic Have?

The 2007 Honda Civic, while generally reliable, has some frequently reported problems. A significant issue is the engine block cracking, particularly in colder climates. This problem primarily affected the 2006-2008 models with the 1.8L engine, requiring costly repairs or engine replacement. There have also been reports of premature tire wear, often attributed to alignment issues or suspension problems.

Paint defects, specifically clear coat peeling, are another common complaint. The air conditioning system can also be prone to failures, requiring repairs to the compressor or other components. Some owners have also reported issues with the power windows and locks.

Recalls for the 2007 Civic have included issues related to airbags and fuel leaks. It's essential to check the vehicle's VIN with Honda to determine if all applicable recalls have been addressed. Long-term reliability concerns mainly revolve around the aforementioned engine block issue and the potential for increased maintenance costs as the car ages.

How long will the 2007 Honda Civic last?

With proper maintenance, a 2007 Honda Civic can easily reach 200,000 miles or more. Many owners report exceeding this mileage with regular servicing. Years of service can extend well beyond 15 years with attentive care. The key to long-term durability lies in adhering to the recommended maintenance schedule, including oil changes, fluid checks, and timely replacement of wear items. However, the engine block cracking issue, if it occurs, can significantly shorten the lifespan. Rust can also become a concern in areas with harsh winters. Regularly inspecting and addressing these potential weaknesses will contribute to a longer lifespan.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2007 Honda Civic's built-in tech was fairly basic for its time. The base DX model offered minimal tech, primarily focusing on essential functions. Stepping up to the LX and EX trims added features like a CD player, auxiliary audio input, and optional navigation system. Entertainment features were limited compared to modern vehicles.

Driver-assistance features were also limited. Standard safety features included anti-lock brakes (ABS), front airbags, and side curtain airbags. Electronic stability control (ESC) was not standard on all trims.

The 2007 Honda Civic received good crash-test ratings from the IIHS and NHTSA. The IIHS awarded it a "Good" rating in frontal offset and side impact tests. The NHTSA gave it 5-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests. The Coupe typically scored slightly lower in rollover ratings. Optional features varied by trim level but could include a sunroof, upgraded sound system, and alloy wheels. Overall, safety was a strong point for the 2007 Civic, but its tech and driver-assistance features were less advanced compared to newer models.

2007 Honda Civic Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2007 Honda Civic ranged from approximately $14,000 for the base DX model to around $21,000 for the Si trim. Current used market prices vary significantly based on condition, mileage, and location. Expect to find them ranging from $4,000 to $8,000 typically. Depreciation has been substantial, but Civics tend to hold their value relatively well compared to other cars due to their reputation for reliability and fuel efficiency. Factors affecting resale value include maintenance history, accident records, trim level, and overall condition. Lower mileage examples in excellent condition will command higher prices.

2007 Honda Civic Cost of Ownership

The 2007 Honda Civic is generally economical to own. Insurance costs are typically low due to its safety ratings and commonality. Fuel costs are excellent thanks to its fuel-efficient engines. Maintenance costs are also reasonable, with readily available parts and a simple design. However, potential engine block issues can lead to significant repair expenses. Regular maintenance, like oil changes and tire rotations, is crucial for long-term reliability. Overall, the Civic is an affordable car to own, provided major issues are avoided.

2007 Honda Civic Insurance

Insurance for a 2007 Honda Civic is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sedan with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2007 Honda Civic Compare to Other Sedan?

The 2007 Honda Civic competed against the Toyota Corolla, Mazda3, Nissan Sentra, and Ford Focus. Compared to the Corolla, the Civic offered a slightly more engaging driving experience and a more modern interior. The Mazda3 was sportier and more fun to drive, but might not have matched the Civic's reliability. The Nissan Sentra offered a more spacious interior but lacked the Civic's fuel efficiency. The Ford Focus was generally less reliable than the Civic.

In terms of reliability, the Civic and Corolla were top contenders. For features, the Mazda3 often offered more standard equipment. In terms of price, the Civic was competitively priced within its class.

Alternatives to consider include the Toyota Corolla for its unwavering reliability, or the Mazda3 for a sportier driving experience. The Hyundai Elantra from similar years offers good value and features for the price. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual priorities – reliability, performance, features, or price.

Final Verdict: Is the 2007 Honda Civic a Good Sedan?

The 2007 Honda Civic is ideal for budget-conscious buyers seeking a reliable and fuel-efficient commuter car. It's worth buying used if you can find one in good condition with a clean maintenance history and no signs of engine block cracking. The LX or EX trims offer a good balance of features and value. A pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic is highly recommended to check for potential issues, particularly related to the engine and air conditioning system. Avoid models with a history of neglect or accident damage. If reliability is your top priority and you can confirm the engine is sound, a 2007 Civic can be a solid choice.

Honda builds an awesome car. When you purchase a car analyze the drag coefficient on a car and horsepower. The I-VTEC engine is the best

It basically just needed gas, oil, tires & brakes.

Very reliable car, my 2nd Honda vehicle (repeat customer, that says a lot). It basically just needed regular maintenance, replace typical wear and tear items (tires, brakes). Never failed me and to top it off, it gave me a great fuel economy.

this car is crap!!

worst car i ever owned!! it is a civic lx sedan and it is GARBAGE!!! i had a 1991 civic ex and it was awesome, but the 2005 through 2007 civic and accord lx models are CRAP!! bad starters, bad torque converters, engine valve adjustments on them cost hundreds of dollars, the a/c systems are crap, the electrical issues are also a problem, in short, this car SUCKS!!

Best car I've ever owned

This car is nothing fancy, but it never broke down, and always got me where I needed to go. I live on top of a large hill in Upstate NY where the snow starts 2 weeks before it does at the bottom. I work at the bottom, and this car got my home in every snow storm! We did a lot of skiing, camping, biking, kayaking, and much more with this car. I packed 2 kayaks and 2 bikes and all our camping gear each summer to go on vacations. We took short trips, and long trips (eg North Carolina and back) and I never had to worry about it. Nothing ever went wrong aside from the usual wear and tear you get with cars (replacing exhaust, brakes, battery, tires from time to time). And I am the 2nd owner. LOVE THIS CAR!!

Way better then expected!

Purchased car with 160,000 miles on it, you would nit belive how well this car runs with that many miles. Gas milage still great, accelleration still great, no oil leaks. just love these cars. i am all about basics, no turbo just reliability- honda knocks it out of the park. i also have an old 1998 civic with 300,000 miles still running strong. i hope honda keeps this quality up and keeps the cars selling at good prices without dumb things like GDI and turbos that lower reliability. keep it up honda!
