The Good
The 2007 Impreza offers the security and confidence of all-wheel drive, appealing to practical buyers seeking safety in adverse conditions. The WRX trim provides a dose of sporty performance for those seeking fun. While not luxurious, it's comfortable enough for daily driving. It's generally reliable and provides good value for the money. Overall, it is a solid choice for someone looking for a dependable, all-weather capable vehicle.
The Bad
The 2007 Impreza can suffer from head gasket issues, especially in the 2.5L engine. Oil consumption can be a concern. The interior materials are basic and can feel cheap. Rust can be an issue in areas with road salt. The naturally aspirated models aren't particularly exciting in terms of performance. Therefore, careful inspection and maintenance records are critical.

What Problems Does the 2007 Subaru Impreza Have?
Recalls for the 2007 Impreza have addressed issues like potential fuel leaks and brake light switch failures. It's important to check the vehicle's VIN with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to determine if all applicable recalls have been performed. Long-term reliability hinges on proper maintenance. Neglecting oil changes, failing to address leaks promptly, and ignoring unusual noises can significantly shorten the lifespan of the vehicle. The 2007 model year falls within a period where Subaru experienced more head gasket issues than later models.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features included front airbags and side-impact airbags. Optional features included fog lights, sunroof, and keyless entry.
Crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) were generally good for the 2007 Impreza. The IIHS gave it a "Good" rating in frontal offset and side-impact crash tests. NHTSA ratings varied but were generally four or five stars for frontal and side crash protection. Keep in mind safety technology has improved dramatically since 2007, so while safe for its time, it doesn't offer the advanced safety of newer vehicles. Remember to consult official sources for the most accurate and up-to-date crash test information.

How Does the 2007 Subaru Impreza Compare to Other Wagon?
In terms of features, the Impreza was generally on par with its rivals. Reliability-wise, the Corolla and Civic tend to be more reliable than the Impreza, primarily due to the potential head gasket issues. The Mazda3 offered a sportier driving experience than the base Impreza.
For similar alternatives, consider a Mazda3 for sporty handling and good reliability, or a Toyota Corolla for bulletproof reliability and fuel efficiency. If AWD isn't a necessity, these alternatives might be better choices. If AWD is a must and budget is a concern, a used Lancer (non-Evo) could be considered, but research reliability carefully.

Final Verdict: Is the 2007 Subaru Impreza a Good Wagon?

Toughest little vehicle I know. This car has been the most reliable, toughest car I've ever owned. It has never let me down. Maintenance is very affordable. Plenty of power for all your lane passing needs and plenty of stopping power even in the most slippery conditions. The AWD system is perfect for washington winters! All electronics still work! I've only had to replace bulbs. Anybody who drives this car will totally love it.

Best handling out of any car I've ownedI live in te North East and my impreza is a perfect tool to go where many 4 wheel drives cant, Its insane how good this wagon is in the snow, I love my subaru and will always stay true to this brand for years to come. Rain shine snow mud wind rain DOES NOT MATTER ,I will be there 5 stars and a cherry on top. I have been warned about head gaskets on these motors but with 143000 Its been great but when or if that problem occurs I will have to pull the box out , there is no room to change this in the frame, Its worth it and all us subaru owners have names for our babies mine is peanut and it never lets me down. Subie 4 life the world is flat, Lets box.

Best but not best.2007 Impreza wrx STi - already have to replace head gasket at 103k miles. Other than that it's a fun weekend car. Gas mileage really sucks on the STi model 19/24 mpg.

Lots of fun for a very low costThe sound, the handling, and the joy of driving this 2007 base model Impreza sedan is definitely a diamond in the rough for little cost of entry. Although most know and recognized the wrx and sti models for their performance this model still gives you decent power and similar driving feel along with that symphonic experience exhaust note minus the turbo of course.

Excellent price value and very reliable.2.5 liter engine with good power. Quick heater output to stay warm. Lots of cargo room in the back. I feel safe in this car, nice solid feel to the ride.

Family FastMy 07 WRX is the best car I've owned as it combines practicality, comfort, reliability, and performance all in one car. The interior is fairly plain but I'd rather have that than one full of a bunch of luxuries that will only break over time. The manual transmission is definitely a must have. I would recommend this car to everyone who can drive a standard or who wants to learn as it is forgiving to beginners. Only downside is fuel economy goes down fast if you push this car to its limits but the all wheel drive and uphill performance makes it worth that minor sacrifice.
