I drove my '08 Legacy for years and was so sad when she was totaled at 125k miles. She would've gone another 125k if she could've! I would highly recommend, especially for tall drivers like me because of the headroom. No major maintenance until about 110k when I had to replace the timing belt, radiator, power steering pump/hose, drive belts, etc., but the original head gasket stayed in great shape. She never left me stranded and I loved her. Super cool car, very reliable, practical, smooth ride with AWD and good looking, so sad she's gone!

I have owned around 8 of these legacy's from 2004 all the way up to 2008. GTs, 3.0Rs and a couple of Spec xx all have been wagons and they haven never left me dissatisfied the ride quality is great the performance is fantastic and they car as a whole is outstanding.

I've been driving for almost 35 years and have owned many many cars over the years and my 08' Legacy has to rank as one of the worst. I bought it in the summer of 2017 with 135k miles. I bought it mostly because I needed something AWD for the snow and ice in the winter here in Lake Arrowhead, CA. True, the AWD is an amazing feature and this car works very well in the snow but that's where everything good about this car ends. At 140k miles the head gasket blew blessing me with a $2500 bill to fix it. Next, the rear bumper began magically and mysteriously unhinging itself from it's mountings on either side of the bumper despite the fact that I've never bumped or backed this car into anything. Next, all the idiot lights on the dash began coming on for no apparent reason rendering the cruise control inoperable. I cleaned the battery terminals thinking that would help it, and it did....for about a week then it began happening all over again. Mysteriously it just went away on it's own about 3 weeks ago. The heated seats crapped out about 3 months after purchasing the car and just a few weeks ago the passenger side window motor gave up but not before leaving a 1/4 inch opening at the top allowing water and snow to get it. I can't even find the words to tell you people how much I hate this 2008 Legacy but unfortunately I still have one more year of payments to make. After that, if someone doesn't buy it, I will push it off the nearest cliff I can find.

Summary Subaru IS Recalling 16,715 MY 2007-2008 Legacy Sedans and Wagons, MY 2008 Impreza Sedans and Wagons, and MY 2009 Forester Vehicles. Some Vehicles MAY Have THE Cylinder Head-Side OIL Supply Pipe and Turbocharger-side Pipe Improperly Assembled.
Consequence Vibration Would Occur While Driving And, Over Time, Could Eventually Result IN Cracking THE Pipe Which Would Allow OIL TO Leak. IF Leaking OIL Contacts Components Operating AT High Temperatures, AN Engine Compartment Fire Could Occur.
Remedy Dealers Will Inspect FOR Cracking or AN OIL Leak AT THE OIL Supply Pipe AT THE Cylinder Head-Side. AN Additional Bracket Will BE Installed TO Increase Rigidity OF THE Pipe and THE Pipe Assembly Will BE Replaced With A Modified Part. THE Recall Began ON October 20, 2008. I drove my '08 Legacy for years and was so sad when she

I drove my '08 Legacy for years and was so sad when she was totaled at 125k miles. She would've gone another 125k if she could've! I would highly recommend, especially for tall drivers like me because of the headroom. No major maintenance until about 110k when I had to replace the timing belt, radiator, power steering pump/hose, drive belts, etc., but the original head gasket stayed in great shape. She never left me stranded and I loved her. Super cool car, very reliable, practical, smooth ride with AWD and good looking, so sad she's gone!

Never looking back

I have owned around 8 of these legacy's from 2004 all the way up to 2008. GTs, 3.0Rs and a couple of Spec xx all have been wagons and they haven never left me dissatisfied the ride quality is great the performance is fantastic and they car as a whole is outstanding.

First car in 15 years

I will only be using the car on the weekends, as i have a City van for work! Just need a car for shopping and other events. This will be perfect for short trips in the area.

Good overall car

This is a good basic car. The best feature is of course the all-wheel-drive. We were never stuck in the snow and we always had confidence it would get us where we needed to go. As a 2.5i model, gas mileage was decent, about 28 highway and the interior was quiet and comfortable.

Turbo too small for engine

Went thru 3 turbos in 6 years and 2 engines and the mechanic thinks it’s because the turbo is too small for the engine. If i didn’t have to put so much money into the car after purchase I would have loved it p

108,000 and a great ride

First of all there is no rust a big thing in PA. Car is tight and wants to eat up another 108,000. You can feel it in the engine. I just got this car and can't wait to AWD it in the snow. I'm tired of 2 wheeling it in 6 inches of snow up here. No drips no drops under the car. This might be one of the best cars I have ever owned:).

This is the finest enthusiast’s Legacy Subaru ever

The 2.5 GT Spec B is a WRX for adults! I loved driving this car for 10 years – it is the best car I’ve ever owned! Power, handling, comfort, style, AWD, reliability - what more could you want?

Worst car I've ever owned

I've been driving for almost 35 years and have owned many many cars over the years and my 08' Legacy has to rank as one of the worst. I bought it in the summer of 2017 with 135k miles. I bought it mostly because I needed something AWD for the snow and ice in the winter here in Lake Arrowhead, CA. True, the AWD is an amazing feature and this car works very well in the snow but that's where everything good about this car ends. At 140k miles the head gasket blew blessing me with a $2500 bill to fix it. Next, the rear bumper began magically and mysteriously unhinging itself from it's mountings on either side of the bumper despite the fact that I've never bumped or backed this car into anything. Next, all the idiot lights on the dash began coming on for no apparent reason rendering the cruise control inoperable. I cleaned the battery terminals thinking that would help it, and it did....for about a week then it began happening all over again. Mysteriously it just went away on it's own about 3 weeks ago. The heated seats crapped out about 3 months after purchasing the car and just a few weeks ago the passenger side window motor gave up but not before leaving a 1/4 inch opening at the top allowing water and snow to get it. I can't even find the words to tell you people how much I hate this 2008 Legacy but unfortunately I still have one more year of payments to make. After that, if someone doesn't buy it, I will push it off the nearest cliff I can find.

Legacy 2.5 GT Amazing Car 5 speed Manual

I have had no problems with this can and would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a fun reliable car. Also great in the snow! Love Subarus!
