The Good
The 2017 Subaru Legacy offers the practical advantage of standard all-wheel drive for enhanced safety and stability. Its reliability and comfortable ride appeal to sensible buyers. Emotionally, drivers appreciate the secure feeling of AWD in challenging conditions and the Legacy's understated, yet functional design. Good fuel efficiency for an AWD vehicle and overall value further enhance its appeal.
The Bad
The 2017 Subaru Legacy's weaknesses include a somewhat bland interior design and less engaging handling compared to some rivals. The base engine can feel underpowered, especially when fully loaded. Some owners have reported issues with the infotainment system's responsiveness. Potential buyers should also inspect for oil consumption, a common concern in Subaru engines, and CVT transmission issues.

Final Verdict: Is the 2017 Subaru Legacy a Good Sedan?

Too many mechanical issues over the years.2017 Legacy top of the line 4 cy with 125k. Has valve leak at 42k. Shock leaked at 45k. a t50k the Satalite radio stopped working. At 90k needed a new transmission. at95k needed another shock in left rear.At 100k the A/C blew out needed a new compressor. From drivers side right front windows doesn't work. So overall disapointed in the reliability. It's terrible. Otherwise the car rides and handles well and is comfortable. With all the issues I would not buy a Subaru again. My 2012 Camry made it to 190k with only replacing the serpentine belt and worn front bearings. So much more reliable.

isight can kill you if you let it work by designSubaru eyesight technology is extremely annoying and very dangerous because it lacks accurate performance. sudden breaking when there's nothing in front of you and fog lights that turn on left and right as you turn is certain invitation from everyone telling you your fog lights are not working properly. lane control is dangerous and i'm lucky to be alive. isight doesn't work very well and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. also the only time I feel like I am in control of the car is costing in neutral going downhill and that's it

Nice Reliable SedanNice car and great finish. We are pleased with everything, but would like the mileage we are experienced is less than advertised. The interior clock and outside temperature readings are in conveniently located. Other than that the car is A-1. Great value for the money.

Good car for the moneyI had buyers remorse after I bought this car new. It was a huge step down in noise and luxury, space and hauling power compared to my 2004 Honda Accord EX. This car has a problem with cargo space both in the trunk and in the cabin. The center slot won't even hold the larger iPhone. Yeah, there's the center armrest compartment but Everything gets lost in there. Not visible, you will forget it. The side panels don't hold much, not even my binoculars. The car is reliable and runs well. It's a little wimpy in the power department but it does get pretty good gas milage. Only a single exhaust and the gas smell is very noxious. Don't back it into the driveway and expect to warm it up on cool mornings. The fumes are likely to kill you. All in all though, I would recommend this car to a friend if they understand the limitations.

A decent car.A little on the cheap side as far as luxuryβs and creature comforts. Seating and steering wheel placement for me being 6β1Γ’β¬Β is uncomfortable and tiring for any length of time driving. Also radio/GPS controls on dash are far away from driver. Wish I knew this prior to purchase. As an ex Subaru technician I took a chance On comfort and it did not worK out. All and all A decent car at a decent price.

Best Value I Have Experienced In a VehicleI am a long time BMW owner & lover. After 5 new BMW's my financial situation changed and I decided to look into a Subaru at the suggestion of my wife and son who both own and drive Subaru's (CrossTrek & WRX). I must say that I was BLOWN away at the quality of the ride, overall feel and amenities that came for literally half the price of my former vehicles. Having spent a ton of time on the road in a variety of luxury vehicles, I can honestly say there is no better value on the market for a mid sized sedan, AWD with tons of extras. The killer punch came when the sales person recommend the eyesite add on. I was skeptical but can honestly say this (now standard feature beginning in 2018) is the best... driver fatigue was virtually eliminated from it's intuitive and safe operation... Yep.. I kinda love this vehicle... time to sell and move up to an Ascent (need a tow vehicle) but will definitely miss it.

Excellent shape and condition. Looks new. This car has been great. It's very comfortable and one of the most comfortable cars you could take on a long drive. We took it to Canada and weren't disappointed. We love the Legacy so much we bought a 2020!
