The Good
The 2000 Jeep Wrangler's advantages lie in its off-road performance and iconic design, appealing to the adventurous spirit. Practically, it offers decent reliability and holds its value well. The simple design makes it relatively easy to maintain. The open-air experience is a major emotional draw.
The Bad
Known weaknesses of the 2000 Jeep Wrangler include a somewhat rough ride on paved roads, limited cargo space, and potential for rust, especially in areas with road salt. Watch out for issues with the cooling system, transmission problems (especially in automatics), and worn suspension components.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2000 Jeep Wrangler Have?
How long will the 2000 Jeep Wrangler last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features are similarly minimal. Standard equipment includes driver and passenger airbags. Anti-lock brakes (ABS) were an available option.
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) for the 2000 Jeep Wrangler are available. The Wrangler TJ typically received moderate ratings in frontal crash tests. Side-impact protection is limited due to the vehicle's design. It's important to note that the Wrangler is a relatively small vehicle and lacks many of the safety features found in modern SUVs. The open-top design also reduces rollover protection compared to a hardtop vehicle.
Aftermarket upgrades are common for the Wrangler, so some vehicles may have upgraded stereos or other tech features installed by previous owners. However, the factory-installed tech is quite basic compared to contemporary vehicles.

How Does the 2000 Jeep Wrangler Compare to Other Wagon Open?
Feature-wise, the Wrangler lagged behind its rivals, offering fewer standard amenities and safety features. Reliability is generally good, but rust can be a significant issue. Price-wise, the Wrangler was often more expensive than the Suzuki Samurai but offered more capability.
Alternatives to the 2000 Wrangler include later TJ models (2003-2006) which offer some improvements in refinement and available features. A used Toyota 4Runner might be a better option if you prioritize on-road comfort and reliability over extreme off-road capability. For similar off-road prowess in a newer package, consider a later Jeep Wrangler JK or JL, but be prepared to pay a higher price.

Life ChangingI purchased this car and have never felt so connected to a vehicle. I find myself just driving through grass and terrain for no reason at all, it is also pretty comfortable at highway speeds. Set my cruise. Only complaint is wind noise, but the vehicle was not made for the highway anyways. It is so fun to drive especially as a manual. Going up hills and rocks and exploring nature. Take the top off and you feel like you are on a motorcycle but not as dangerous or nervous... just so relaxing with the music playing and your leg out the door and your hand on the shift knob. My mom is going through a divorce with my father and I took her on a ride with the top off and played some 80's hits... I have not seen her so happy in years. That alone made purchasing this vehicle worth it to me. Thank you Jeep 🙂

Love itFirst let me say I am female! This rig runs like a champ. It has 100,050 miles, I put heavy duty suspension on it about 6 years ago. This Jeep is rugged, dependable and fun. I'll never sell it and I've had several offers. For me it's the best vehicle I've owned. I have the hard, soft and bikini top plus other extras.

DEATH WOOBLEDEATH WOOBLE!!! At 100k front end suspension totally gets wasted. Everything breaks down. It can be fixed at a cost but figuring what components are at fault is the problem!!! Otherwise it's a Jeep from WW11.

2004 Jeep RubiconThe Jeep Looked new 31,485 miles Runs great. Transmission great. Frame good shape. They said it was serviced and everything looked good! It had a under coat done I look under and all over looked ok! I left Delavan WI to Toledo OH By the time I was at Chicago IL the u-joints where making noise. The 50 yards from my home the u-joint came loose. I called the dealership they said to let them know they would work with me! I sent them pictures and the 5080.37 bill to replace all the rusted out parts that where hidden under the jeep by the undercoating that you could not see unless you had it up in the air on a rack! They have not called me yet. The frame replacement was not on CARFAX.
